Shawnee Township Fire Department – HAAS Alert HA-7 Installation

Engine 2 | Responder Safety Technology Integration

Enhancing Responder Safety Through Connected Vehicle Technology

Installation of a HAAS Alert HA-7 Transponder system designed to improve driver awareness and support safer emergency response operations.

Northwest Emergency Vehicle Upfitters recently completed the installation of a HAAS Alert HA-7 Transponder on Engine 2 for the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

The HAAS Alert system is an advanced responder safety solution designed to increase driver awareness and help reduce the risk of collisions involving emergency vehicles. When emergency warning lights are activated, the HA-7 transmits real-time digital alerts to motorists through navigation platforms such as Waze and Apple Maps, providing drivers with additional time to recognize and respond to approaching emergency apparatus.

This installation was also configured to support future HAAS Alert Responder-to-Responder (R2R) functionality. Once activated, the R2R feature will provide in-cab notifications when another HAAS-equipped emergency vehicle is nearby, helping improve situational awareness for emergency personnel operating in complex response environments.
